Meet the Doctor

Dr. Nicole Barbour was born in Richmond, VA. She graduated from John Randolph Tucker High School in Richmond, VA. In 1996, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with honors from Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA.  In 1996 through 2002, Dr. Barbour was employed at a private dental practice where her love of dentistry first started. She worked there as an insurance coordinator, receptionist, and dental assistant.

In 2002, she entered Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2006. She was Class Secretary for all four years while there.  She participated in many aspects of dental student life. She was an active member in SNDA and became Secretary of SNDA from 2004-2005. She was a member of the Student Peer Panel with the VCU School of Dentistry Admission’s office by helping with the interview process of new dental school applicants. Dr. Barbour also helped the VCU Periodontal Department by helping to teach MCV/VCU Medical School students on signs of oral pathology, i.e. oral cancer.

After dental school, Dr. Barbour worked in a private practice where many dental implants and other reconstructive surgeries where performed.  From December 2006 to March 2011, Dr. Barbour was an associate dentist at a corporate dental company. There she served the oral health needs of patients from the surrounding areas in the corporation’s many locations in Virginia and Arkansas.

From 2011-2014, Dr. Barbour worked with two community healthcare centers that served the healthcare needs for individuals and families in low income and rural settings in Dinwiddie and Alberta, Virginia. She loved the patients and co-workers at both locations, but especially in Alberta, Virginia.

In her spare time, Dr. Barbour likes to play volleyball at the Richmond Volleyball Club. She has been playing volleyball for over 20 years. Dr. Barbour used to be an assistant coach for the RVC Junior program from 2007-2010. Also Dr. Barbour enjoys reading, spending time with her family, traveling, and going to/watching movies.
